Connecting Your Salesforce Account to Lexio

Steps for creating a Salesforce App in Lexio:

*You must be an Admin to create a new data connection*

Login to Lexio, go to the "Data" page and click the "+ Add New" button to create a new connection.

Click the Salesforce button:

Give the connection a name and click 'Create Connection'. During this step, you can also specify a fiscal year if your data does not coincide with a calendar year-end. You'll just toggle this feature on and select the month that your fiscal year begins.

Next, enter your Salesforce credentials and click "Connect":

Please Note: You will need your SalesForce access token in order to complete the authorization. If you don’t have your SalesForce access token handy, you can find instructions on how to reset it here.

Please keep in mind that changing your password in Salesforce automatically creates a new access token and disables the previous token. If you change your password in Salesforce, be sure to update the credentials here in Lexio as well. This will ensure your Salesforce data is up-to-date in Lexio as well.

While your data sync is finishing, you will see the screen below. This initial setup of the data connection may take several minutes to complete because it's pulling in historical data from your Salesforce instance.

You can click the "Data" tab in Lexio to come back here anytime. Your data is automatically refreshed every 4 hours, however, if you would like to manually refresh it you can click the "Refresh Data" button. When you click on an app that's already been connected, it will look like this:

NOTE:  You can also reference this link to find out what version of SalesForce you currently using. It is a pre-requisite that you have one of the SalesForce versions listed on this page in order to produce a story in Lexio.

You can connect your SalesForce account to Lexio with either Read Only or Standard SalesForce user permissions. See screenshots below for specific record access needed to produce a Lexio story.

Standard SalesForce Permissions Needed to Generate a Lexio Story:

Note: Similar to other business intelligence applications that connect directly to your Salesforce, Lexio will draw from your allowable Salesforce REST API Quota. The initial connection to your Salesforce will use the largest part of this allotment because Lexio is pulling in all of your historical data. However, as Lexio pulls in updated data from your Salesforce, the footprint on your API quota will be minimal. Lexio is only pulling in the records that have been updated since the last time it queried your Salesforce.

Therefore, in order to minimize the impact on your allowable API calls, we recommend that you do not set up many independent Lexio apps that connect to the same Salesforce account. Those apps will all independently use up your API hits when connecting for the first time. If your quota is reached, you will notice that Lexio will take longer to bring in all of your historical data.
